Towards the end of summer, while reading blogs, I stumbled upon a few photos of macramé plant holders and I thought, I think I need to learn how to make one! The kids are so good about leaving plants and within-reach decorations alone, so my main focus for wanting a hanging plant holder was mostly for aesthetic. I searched Pinterest for a few minutes, then settled on this easy macramé tutorial. Besides, I looooove plants, so this was a great excuse to have another one ;)

I found some cotton rope inside Zack’s toolbox, but the length was a little short for my vision. No problem, I thought, I’ll just braid some wool yarn to make two extra strands. So that’s what I did. The added texture is perfect. And if you are short on surface space, this is a great solution for you!

Here’s an up close shot of the plant hanger. Next time I need to add a handful of wooden beads!

It took me a couple of tries to get the rope to lay correctly. While knotting, I sat on the floor and did my best to keep the spacing consistent. But overall, this was a really easy project and the supplies were already in our home.

Have you knotted macramé before? And I’d love to know, how do you feel about house plants?

PS. Twenty “20-minute” crafts you should definitely make this fall.
